About Jim

Originally from Kilmore I returned to my native parish at the end of the 1980’s following a career in engineering in the fields of shipping, oil and aluminium refining.Jim Family

I established my own engineering and specialist services business in Kilmore Quay where I reside with my family.

I became involved in Community development work locally in the mid ‘90s helping to develop a strong community network delivering social community services e.g. youth club, senior citizens as well as promotion of employment and enterprise.

The education of my children locally encouraged me to contribute to local school issues and eventually being elected as a Parents Representative to Co. Wexford VEC.  Subsequently I became involved nationally and I am now enjoying my term as President of the National Parents Council post primary.

Academically, Jim has qualifications in Engineering, Industrial Management and Rural Development which supports both his interests and his career in public service.

Jim is married to Lucy and they have two children, Sarah and Jamie. His abiding interest, besides community work and politics is sport.  You name it he loves it – hurling, football, soccer, rugby, golf, cricket, snooker, motor racing, darts, cycling……. He likes to read non-fiction – mostly biographies, although John O Donohue and John Quinn are among his favourite authors.
